The Space

Bona Dea Private Estate hailed as one of the most romantic locations in Southern Africa is a unique wedding venue located 90 minutes from Cape Town International Airport.  Situated high on the mountain slopes of the breathtaking Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven-and-Earth) Valley near the picturesque town of Hermanus, which is famous for its superb whale watching.

Venue Complex

The remarkable Venue Complex incorporates traditional elements of the original Cape Dutch style manor house combined with a bold modern renovation. This banquet facility features a completely column free ballroom which is suitable for up to 200 guests, with a generous dance floor. Other features include an adjacent modern bar area and cigar lounges with large fireplaces for those cooler seasons, modern crisp white restroom facilities and a fully equipped commercial kitchen. The Dessert Room is a special and private room specifically created to display your cake and dessert extravaganza to ‘wow’ your guests. While most ceremonies are held on the treed terrace adorned with 20,000 fairy lights, there is an indoor chapel available on the lower ground level. Bona Dea Private Estate offers exceptional facilities for conferences, seminars, executive board-meetings, gala dinners and team building.  The events team are on hand to assist throughout and ensure your corporate event is a success. The ballroom can seat up to 200 delegates and can be transformed to host a variety of different events from a conference to a orchestral concert.

Natural water features and pristine garden terraces make this luxurious venue perfect for a ceremony, pre-dinner drinks or outdoor dining setting.

Accommodation

All accommodation options are conveniently located, exceedingly elegant, and yet, remarkably comfortable. There are three bedrooms upstairs in the venue complex with 2 beautifully appointed bathrooms. Olive Cottage has an upper level with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a lounge with fireplace, open plan dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. On the lower ground floor, a self-contained studio flat with open plan kitchenette, en-suite shower and bath and undercover patio with built in braai.  Protea Cottage is a newly renovated cottage and can sleep up to 6 guests sharing.  The latest addition of accommodation on the private estate are the Fynbos Eco Pods.  Consisting of a cluster of 6 pods (max 2 guests per pod) overlooking the Hemel-en-Aarde valley.
